报告内容:
Undergraduate students are often advised to perform research, but many do not know what it is, why they should do it, or how to get started. In this informational seminar, a case study based on a former undergraduate student at North Carolina State University will be presented to show how a student can create a long lasting impact through research efforts. Additional perspective on how research as an undergraduate can create pathways for professional development will also be discussed. The primary motivation of the seminar is to encourage students to be pro-active in seeking research opportunities that will create new opportunities for their professional advancement, whether that is through learning new technical skills needed for securing jobs in industry, practicing ‘soft skills’ such as making presentations, working in a collaborative team environment, or developing critical thinking skills that are often necessary for graduate school.
